NEIGHBOUR FRIDAY

love your neighbor

As written in Mark 12:31, Jesus said that the 2nd greatest commandment is to “Love your neighbour as yourself”… How do you show love to those around you? Do you really love those annoying, noisy, unfriendly, cheeky, homosexual or unbelieving  neighbours the way you love yourself?  I understand sometimes it's extremely difficult to keep showing love to people who care less but since God commands us to, we have to do our best to love everybody and live peaceably with them.

When all efforts to show love to your neighbours fail, try prayer! How often do you pray for your neighbours and local community? Do you know that when there is peace in your neighbourhood, you will experience peace of mind too? Do you know when your neighbours have problems it can affect you in one way or the other? Make it a habit to remember neighbours, friends and well wishers in prayers. Today is NEIGHBOUR FRIDAY so let's put what we've just learnt to practice... Oya close your eyes, let us pray

PRAYER  (FROM PRAYER FOR TODAY MAGAZINE)
*Lord, help me to have a passion to pray for those who live on my street: to remember them in prayer and remember that You are the only real answer to the many problems my neighbours face.  Hear my prayer and transform my street!  Let crime levels fall, or remain at zero; plant hope and love in our community.

*Are you are aware of any problem anybody in your community is currently facing , please pray about it now.

If you look around and think deep, you will always find something to pray about!  If your neighbour is not saved, pray for them to be saved! If the person is homosexual, pray for his/her salvation and deliverance! If the person is grieving, ask the Holy spirit to comfort them!  Keep showing love to your neighbours by praying for them as often as you pray for yourself.

Do have a blessed day,
with love,

YOU !

THIS POST IS DEDICATED SPECIALLY TO CHRISTIAN YOUTHS ALL OVER THE WORLD WHO ARE EITHER GOING TO UNIVERSITY FOR THE 1ST TIME OR RELOCATING TO WORK IN A NEW ENVIRONMENT.

2 Timothy 3:14-17 (AMP)

“But wicked men and imposters will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and leading astray others and being deceived and led astray themselves.

But as for you, continue to hold to the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced, knowing from whom you learned [them],

And how from your childhood you have had a knowledge of and been acquainted with the sacred Writings, which are able to instruct you and give you the understanding for salvation which comes through faith in Christ Jesus [through the leaning of the entire human personality on God in Christ Jesus in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness].

Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action),

So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

This passage is Paul’s charge to Timothy to keep the faith and hold on fast to his convictions. Timothy had a rich spiritual heritage passed on to him by his grandmother and mother. Nevertheless, as we all know, being born to spiritual parents, having a Christian name, working in the church is not a guarantee against backsliding. That your parents are pastors, leaders or committed leaders does not earn you a place in heaven. You have to believe, you have to hold on to your convictions. Jesus has to be YOURS. If you read the preceding verses before verse 14, Paul is making it clear to Timothy that the world is becoming more chronically sick and the decay is setting in very fast. After laying out the state of the world’s corruption, Paul then charges Timothy in verse 14; “But as for you…” Paul brings it back home, he makes it personal. In other words, Paul had been saying “Tim, the world is in a deplorable state. Unrighteousness is being exalted and the ancient landmarks of righteousness are being washed away by the strong tides of sin.” But from verse 14, Paul changes his tone and directly addresses Timothy, “The world is decaying, but this is YOUR responsibility: to hold fast to the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced, knowing from whom you learned [them], And how from your childhood you have had a knowledge of and been acquainted with the sacred Writings, which are able to instruct you and give you the understanding for salvation which comes through faith in Christ Jesus [through the leaning of the entire human personality on God in Christ Jesus in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness].”

This same charge is coming to every believer today, irrespective of your age or location. You might be going through or anticipating a new season in your life, this could include moving locations, moving schools, going to university, whatever the change might be. As Christian youths, we know that the world is bad. We know people would rather idolise ordinary, air brushed human beings battling with their own catalogue of fears and insecurity as opposed to worshipping the Creator of the Universe who is everlasting. We know that the world is upside down. We know. We know people would choose to believe in cosmic soups, big bangs and black holes than believe that “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” We know that the deep stench of sin in our world is suffocating to us as Christians. But what do we do? Are you to be paralysed when you get to college, university, that new city where the people drink down iniquity like water?

Let’s take a hint out of how Paul dealt with Timothy. I know you will be faced with all sorts in the world out there, but YOU must hold fast to what you believe. YOU must be a light. YOU must fight the good fight of faith. YOU must take charge of your life and destiny. YOU must say no, when the temptation comes. YOU must pray. YOU must serve God. YOU must strive to follow peace with all men. YOU. You might be the only committed Christian in a class of 1,000 yet YOU must be an ambassador for Christ. Scriptures did not say ‘you and your friends are the light of the world.’ Scriptures say ‘HE that shall endure to the end, the same shall be saved.’ HE, YOU – all points to the individual. It is your responsibility to carry on the godly heritage and knowledge that have been implanted in you over the past few years.

Consider the story of the ten virgins – five foolish, five wise. All ten were looking forward to meeting the bridegroom. They all loved him and wanted to be with him. The only difference was some were wise enough to carry extra oil whilst the others lacked the foresight to do the same. So when the bridegroom finally arrived, the foolish five realised they had run out of oil and in haste, they asked their companions if they could give them some of theirs. The response of the five wise virgins is particularly instructive; “But the wise replied, There will not be enough for us and for you; go instead to the dealers and buy for yourselves” (Matthew 25:9). They basically said, YOU know where the shop is, go get some YOURSELF. The bottom line Paul and the five wise virgins were trying to get at is PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. YOU have a responsibility to remain faithful to God. I beg of you, don’t blame the world for your lack of seriousness or backsliding. Jesus has already told us that we are in the world, but not of the world. Meaning that the same rules don’t apply to us; we are not supposed to be influenced by them because He has not given us the spirit of fear and timidity but of LOVE, POWER and SOUND MIND. Jesus lived among filthy people but He overcame the filth. Joseph was in a strange land, but he was ever conscious of his God. Daniel, Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego all got their names changed but their identity as Hebrews, as believers in the God of Israel was never stripped away from them. As you take this new step into the unknown, remember, God is with YOU, for YOU and willing to help YOU abide in Him. When the wind of temptation comes, remember, YOU have to give an account. When the choice between studying and partying comes up, remember, YOU have a destiny. Remember, YOU were custom designed by God for a specific purpose and refuse to let anyone or thing abort that destiny. When the assignments and tasks get tough, remember YOU can do all things through Christ which strengthens. When your professors tell you there is no God, remember YOU have experienced God. They can say all they want, in the end it is YOUR choice to believe in the living God.

When you feel all alone, insecure, remember YOU are special. Remember that YOU are a good idea because you are God’s idea. Don’t lose YOU to become the false copy of one of your friends. Do not permit YOU or anyone else to make a shipwreck of your life. Remember YOUR heritage. Remember YOUR mandate – to be an ambassador for Christ. Remember YOUR parents, the least YOU can do is to put a smile on their face after all they have done for you. Remember YOUR gifts, dreams and talents, don’t waste them. Remember YOUR maker and redeemer.

This is a brand new chapter, YOU decide the storyline. I pray it is not a tragedy.

“But as for YOU, continue to hold to the things that YOU have learned and of which YOU are convinced, knowing from whom YOU learned [them].”

This article was written by my one and only Brainy-Barbie, Miss Damilola Olaniyi.  She recently graduated from University of Manchester with a first class degree in Politics and International relations. While at uni, she served passionately as a youth leader in her local church and I don't need to tell you how much  she loves the Lord because her article speaks loud enough...  If I was to give a summary of Dammy's success story, I will probably say "Determination, hardwork, focus, prayers and total trust in God will get you to the  TOP ".    If you are a student with hopes of finishing well, try these and you will see that it works!

As you go to the university  or start a new life, by all means STUDY/WORK HARD, PLAY HARD BUT DON'T FORGET TO SERVE GOD PASSIONATELY! Remember YOUR maker!

I’m sure you were blessed reading this post,PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE WITH OTHERS SO THEY CAN BE BLESSED TOO !

10 ways to control high blood pressure without medication PART 1

If you've been diagnosed with high blood pressure (a systolic pressure — the top number — of 140 or above or a diastolic pressure — the bottom number — of 90 or above), you might be worried about taking medication to bring your numbers down.
Lifestyle plays an important role in treating your high blood pressure. If you successfully control your blood pressure with a healthy lifestyle, you may avoid, delay or reduce the need for medication.

Here are 10 lifestyle changes you can make to lower your blood pressure and keep it down.

1. Lose extra pounds and watch your waistline
Blood pressure often increases as weight increases. Losing just 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) can help reduce your blood pressure. In general, the more weight you lose, the lower your blood pressure. Losing weight also makes any blood pressure medications you're taking more effective. You and your doctor can determine your target weight and the best way to achieve it.

Besides shedding pounds, you should also keep an eye on your waistline. Carrying too much weight around your waist can put you at greater risk of high blood pressure. In general:
  • Men are at risk if their waist measurement is greater than 40 inches (102 centimeters, or cm).
  • Women are at risk if their waist measurement is greater than 35 inches (89 cm).

2. Exercise regularly
Regular physical activity — at least 30 to 60 minutes most days of the week — can lower your blood pressure by 4 to 9 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). And it doesn't take long to see a difference. If you haven't been active, increasing your exercise level can lower your blood pressure within just a few weeks.

If you have prehypertension — systolic pressure between 120 and 139 or diastolic pressure between 80 and 89 — exercise can help you avoid developing full-blown hypertension. If you already have hypertension, regular physical activity can bring your blood pressure down to safer levels.

Talk to your doctor about developing an exercise program. Your doctor can help determine whether you need any exercise restrictions. Even moderate activity for 10 minutes at a time, such as walking and light strength training, can help.

But avoid being a "weekend warrior." Trying to squeeze all your exercise in on the weekends to make up for weekday inactivity isn't a good strategy. Those sudden bursts of activity could actually be risky.

3. Eat a healthy diet
Eating a diet that is rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products and skimps on saturated fat and cholesterol can lower your blood pressure by up to 14 mm Hg. This eating plan is known as the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet.

It isn't easy to change your eating habits, but with these tips, you can adopt a healthy diet:

Keep a food diary. Writing down what you eat, even for just a week, can shed surprising light on your true eating habits. Monitor what you eat, how much, when and why.

Consider boosting potassium. Potassium can lessen the effects of sodium on blood pressure. The best source of potassium is food, such as fruits and vegetables, rather than supplements. Talk to your doctor about the potassium level that's best for you.

Be a smart shopper. Make a shopping list before heading to the supermarket to avoid picking up junk food. Read food labels when you shop and stick to your healthy-eating plan when you're dining out, too.

Cut yourself some slack. Although the DASH diet is a lifelong eating guide, it doesn't mean you have to cut out all of the foods you love. It's OK to treat yourself occasionally to foods you wouldn't find on a DASH diet menu, such as a candy bar or mashed potatoes with gravy.

4. Reduce sodium in your diet
Even a small reduction in the sodium in your diet can reduce blood pressure by 2 to 8 mm Hg. The recommendations for reducing sodium are:
  • Limit sodium to 2,300 milligrams (mg) a day or less.
  • A lower sodium level — 1,500 mg a day or less — is appropriate for people 51 years of age or older, and individuals of any age who are African-American or who have high blood pressure, diabetes or chronic kidney disease.

To decrease sodium in your diet, consider these tips:

Track how much salt is in your diet. Keep a food diary to estimate how much sodium is in what you eat and drink each day.
Read food labels. If possible, choose low-sodium alternatives of the foods and beverages you normally buy.
Eat fewer processed foods. Potato chips, frozen dinners, bacon and processed lunch meats are high in sodium.
Don't add salt. Just 1 level teaspoon of salt has 2,300 mg of sodium. Use herbs or spices, rather than salt, to add more flavor to your foods.
Ease into it. If you don't feel like you can drastically reduce the sodium in your diet suddenly, cut back gradually. Your palate will adjust over time.

5. Limit the amount of alcohol you drink
Alcohol can be both good and bad for your health. In small amounts, it can potentially lower your blood pressure by 2 to 4 mm Hg. But that protective effect is lost if you drink too much alcohol — generally more than one drink a day for women and men older than age 65, or more than two a day for men age 65 and younger. Also, if you don't normally drink alcohol, you shouldn't start drinking as a way to lower your blood pressure. There's more potential harm than benefit to drinking alcohol.

If you drink more than moderate amounts of it, alcohol can actually raise blood pressure by several points. It can also reduce the effectiveness of high blood pressure medications.

Track your drinking patterns. Along with your food diary, keep an alcohol diary to track your true drinking patterns. One drink equals 12 ounces (355 milliliters, or mL) of beer, 5 ounces of wine (148 mL) or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof liquor (45 mL). If you're drinking more than the suggested amounts, cut back.
Consider tapering off. If you're a heavy drinker, suddenly eliminating all alcohol can actually trigger severe high blood pressure for several days. So when you stop drinking, do it with the supervision of your doctor or taper off slowly, over one to two weeks.
Don't binge. Binge drinking — having four or more drinks in a row — can cause large and sudden increases in blood pressure, in addition to other health problems.
TO BE CONTINUED...

Keep calm and stay healthy,
With love,
LadyMay

ADULTERY "my husband had found me in another man’s bed"

I promised him it would never happen again, that actually I wasn’t the one to blame or intend on causing him this much pain, in fact he could gain the entire truth from me if he would just wait and just let me explain.

But he just kept silent, looking me dead in my eyes.  I could see him slipping away. I could see the pain as I was entranced in his gaze

As I walked down the road which lead straight to his soul

I came to see my name joint to the signpost of his door, what was even more was that this was my home.

Already being a home owner I had taken out a mortgage with my soul.  Unconsciously paying the price that had already been paid.

Looking through the door, I reached the area he kept for me,where he held me so close to his heart. As I peered closer I realised his soul I was a part of. . . not just occupying a space I had become his embrace then I saw our bed of grace where he knelt and prayed.

But I didn’t know this would be the day; it has been so long. He did say he was coming and I promised I would wait, but the chemical reactions which arose in my body held me captive to my lust as the hinges of my door was caked with rust and lazy and forgetful I didn’t always dust.

Back to reality

“It was a mistake . .. I didn’t mean to its you I truly love!”

He looked at me and shock his head “Does a hand just fall into a glove?”

But it was a moment of impulse he was my only care, he needs to understand my lonely mind tempted me there

Here, please I beg for you my love.
I love you
I need you
care and adore!

But at the door I saw him, his eyes were different this time, you see this wasn’t the first time although the others had been the last.

Every time it happened he would say it was all in the past,he would carry me off the bed as tears I would shed, turning on the tap he would wash red, till I felt strong enough to stand; he always forgave me.

woman-cryingBut. . .but . . . this was the last time he said this was the end, I tried to cling to his hem but this time my tears couldn’t mend,  the unstitched seams which he had sown but I had ripped to shreds, had I actually traded my husband for perishable tears?

He looked back and said to me

“It is you I have always loved, but to present you to my father this cannot be done because my bride must be spotless, without blemish or stain and unfortunately today he called for your name but my dear time is of the essence and has begun to disappear so at this moment I don’t have time to wash you all over again, I’ve always told you to be prepared as even I didn’t know when He’d mention your name”.

And with that I couldn’t believe it all those warning were true, my husband had found me in another man’s bed and there’s nothing I can now do.

If the rapture happened 2 minutes ago would you have made it? Selah!

'Adultery' was  beautifully written by Omoyoriola Bankole. I read it earlier on facebook and knew I had to share it with you all (Thank me later, LOL). Hope you liked it as much as I did?  Well before I leave you to carry on with today's business, it's important we remind ourselves of the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  If you pay close attention to everything going on around the world and listen to the news, it should be very obvious that the end is near and Christ could return anytime from now. As Christians, we need to be sober and vigilant because the devil is actively engaged seeking whom to devour. Like me, I know many other young people out there make mistakes once a while that upset God but instead of letting such things drag you further away from God, you should ask Him for forgiveness, forsake those sins and make conscious effort to live right in accordance to God's will. We need to search our hearts daily to make sure we are in God's good books and also make conscious effort to stay away from sin and every appearance of evil. Be determined to get your relationship with God right now that you have the time, once that trumpet sounds, Christ wouldn't be able come to your rescue!May the Lord help us to live holy and remain rapturable at all times in Jesus name,Amen! Please take time out to read 1 Thessalonians 5 today, reflect on the passage and ask God to give you the grace to live holy.

Do enjoy the rest of the day and remain blessed
With love,
LadyMay
